Each year in November, Cancer Council and the Australasian College of Dermatologists come together for National Skin Cancer Action Week (18 -24 November 2018). This year, the theme is #OwnYourTone and the team at Lux Everyday will proudly be supporting Cancer Council again.
At Lux Everyday, our goal is to bring the best of life’s experiences to everyone, every day. With summer starting to heat up and the UV levels rising, you can still make the most of summer and protect yourself from the sun.
Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime, so National Skin Cancer Action week is an important reminder of the need for sun protection. Most skin cancers can be prevented by the use of good sun protection.
During National Skin Cancer Action Week and throughout summer, whenever the UV radiation reaches 3 or above use the five forms of sun protection:
- Slip on sun-protective clothing
- Slop on SPF30 (or higher) broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen
- Slap on a broad-brimmed hat
- Seek shade
- Slide on sunglasses
A combination of these measures, along with getting to know your skin and regularly checking for any changes, are the keys to reducing your skin cancer risk.
